They have different lifespans. The crest lasts for years; the commemorative exists for one season and never runs again.
The team crest
The identity mark, on jerseys, warmups, caps, and bags. Ordered again every season as the roster changes, which is why locking its color specification matters most.
Championship and title patches
A year, a title, a division. Produced once, never reordered, and usually needed against a hard presentation date. Often a banner or shield shape to sit under the crest.
Tournament and event patches
Made for a specific fixture or invitational. Frequently the most detailed artwork a club orders, because it exists to be kept rather than worn out.
Commemorative and award pieces
Milestones, retirements, memorial patches, and long-service marks. Small runs that clubs usually batch together into one order.
Size follows the garment, not the logo.
The same crest gets ordered at three sizes across a kit. Sizes run 2 × 2, 3 × 3, 4 × 4, 5 × 5, and 7 × 7 inches, and pricing follows the finished size selected at quoting. For a non-standard shape, send the finished width and height and we confirm the right size before production.

Most clubs end up running both, and it splits cleanly by garment. Embroidered gives the raised, traditional crest look and belongs on jackets, caps, warmups, and bags where the fabric is heavy enough to carry it. Woven is thin, flat, and light, which is what a game jersey in technical fabric actually wants, and it holds small detail like a founding year or a motto line that embroidery would close up. Sports orders are the most deadline-driven work we take. A championship patch that arrives the week after the presentation is worthless, so it is worth being blunt about the schedule.
The fixed parts are a free mockup within 24 hours of receiving artwork, then 7 to 10 day delivery with tracking once you approve. Rush production adds 15% and compresses the production stage. The genuinely variable part is approval: a club committee that takes two weeks to agree on a crest has spent more time than production will. Start the proof early, even before the order is confirmed, because mockups and revisions cost nothing.

The crest that doesn't drift.
A club crest gets reordered for as long as the club exists. The failure mode is gradual: each reorder is re-quoted from whatever artwork someone had to hand, a thread gets substituted for one that is easier to source, and five seasons later the new intake is wearing a noticeably different green from the seniors.

Clubs running several age groups off one crest pool a single order and land in a lower price tier. The per-patch drop between 50 and 500 is substantial.
Rush and backing

What clubs ask us.
Our roster is 18 players. How does that work against a 50-piece minimum?+
The minimum is 50 pieces per design, and most teams clear it without ordering 50 jerseys' worth. A crest usually goes on more than one item per player, parents and coaching staff want them, and clubs running several age groups off the same crest pool one order. If you genuinely only need 18, ordering 50 still costs less per patch than a specialty short run would, and the spares cover mid-season replacements.
Our team colors are specified for screen and print. Will they translate to thread?+
Usually closely, but not always exactly, and it is better to know up front. Screen colors are light, thread is dyed fiber, and some very bright or fluorescent brand colors have no exact thread equivalent. We match to the nearest Pantone thread and show you the codes on the proof. If a color cannot be hit precisely we say so and offer the closest options rather than quietly substituting.

Can we add a championship year to our existing crest without starting over?+
Adding a year, a title bar, or a division line changes the artwork, so it is a new design with its own stitch file. Setting that up is included, so the change costs you nothing beyond the patches themselves. What you keep is the color specification and the proportions from the original record, so the new piece sits consistently alongside the old one instead of drifting. Will an embroidered patch stiffen a performance jersey?+
It will add a firm panel where it sits, yes. An embroidered patch is a dense stitched block, so on lightweight or stretch performance fabric it does not move with the garment. For game jerseys in technical fabric, a woven patch is thinner, lighter, and far less noticeable. Embroidered is the better choice on jackets, warmups, caps, and bags where the fabric is heavier.
