Scope

We make the patch. Not the garment.

Worth putting first, because apparel brands often arrive expecting cut-and-sew. PANTHER PATCH is a patch factory. We do not manufacture blanks, source garments, or apply patches to clothing on your behalf. You or your blanks supplier handle the garment; we make the patch that goes on it, and we ship it to you.

What that means practically is that we slot into an existing production run rather than replacing it. Brands send us the artwork, we produce the patches, and they go to whoever is doing the application. If your manufacturer is applying them, tell us which backing they want before you order, because it changes what we build.

Placement

Where a brand patch actually lands.

Each placement has a size ceiling and a build that suits it. Sizes run 2 × 2, 3 × 3, 4 × 4, 5 × 5, and 7 × 7 inches, and pricing follows the finished size selected at quoting.

Choosing a build

Texture, resolution, or weatherproofing.

Streetwear brands split across all three more than any other buyer, often within a single collection.

Embroidered for presence

Raised thread you can feel, which is what makes a patch read as a considered detail rather than a sticker. The right call for jacket backs and merch sold on card.

Woven for small marks

Far finer threads than embroidery, so a small wordmark, a thin serif, or a two-line lockup stays crisp at 2 inches. The standard for cap tabs and pocket marks.

PVC for accents

Molded rubber that is fully waterproof and holds genuine 3D relief. Suits technical outerwear, bags, and any drop where the patch is meant to feel like an object.

Limited runs

Making the numbers work on a drop.

The minimum is 50 pieces per design. For a brand testing a mark that is a real constraint, so it is worth being deliberate about it. Ordering 50 of one strong design almost always beats splitting the same budget across three variants, because each variant carries its own stitch file and has to clear the 50-piece minimum on its own.

If a design is going to recur across seasons, the economics improve sharply. Digitizing is charged once, and every later run of that patch clones the locked record with no setup fee and no new approval cycle. A house mark you reorder every drop pays its setup exactly once.

On timing, work back from the drop date. A free mockup lands within 24 hours, revisions are unlimited and free, and delivery is 7 to 10 days with tracking once approved. Rush production adds 15%. Tell us the date before you pay and we confirm whether it is achievable.

Color

Getting a brand color into thread.

Brand colors are usually defined for screen and print, and thread is a different material. Most colors translate closely. Very bright, fluorescent, or neon values are the ones that sometimes have no exact thread equivalent, which matters for streetwear more than most categories.

We match to the nearest Pantone thread and print the codes on your proof, so you approve the actual color rather than a screen approximation. If a color cannot be hit precisely we say so and show the closest options instead of substituting quietly. Once approved, those codes are locked to your design record and every reorder pulls the same ones. See the thread color chart for the stocked palette.

How ordering works

From artwork to boxed patches.

    Price it

Pick your build, size, and quantity in the calculator and see a real number immediately.

  2. 02

    Proof

A free mockup within 24 hours with Pantone codes. We flag any lettering that will not hold at your intended size.

  3. 03

Questions

What apparel brands ask.

Do you make the garments as well, or only the patches?+

Only the patches. PANTHER PATCH is a patch factory, not a cut-and-sew apparel manufacturer. We do not produce blanks, we do not source garments, and we do not apply patches to clothing for you. You bring the garment or your blanks supplier does, and we make the patch that goes on it. If you need someone to handle the whole garment, we are one part of that supply chain rather than all of it.

We sell patches as standalone merch. What backing should they have?+

Iron-on, in most cases. A patch sold on its own gets applied by whoever buys it, and most customers would rather press it than sew it. Iron-on adds $0.15 per patch and works on stable woven fabric like denim, canvas, and cotton twill. Worth putting the caveat on your product page, because it will not hold on nylon shells, waterproof fabric, or knits, and those buyers should sew instead.

How small can our wordmark go and still read?+

It depends entirely on the build. In embroidery, thread has physical width, so a small wordmark starts closing up its counters and turns into a smudge at a distance. Woven uses far finer threads and holds noticeably smaller lettering, which is why most small brand tabs on caps and pockets are woven rather than embroidered. Send the artwork at the size you intend and we will tell you honestly on the proof whether it holds.

Can the patch be die-cut to the shape of our logo?+

Yes, and shape costs nothing extra at a given size. Pricing is based on the finished size you select when you quote, so for an irregular silhouette send the finished width and height and we confirm the right size before production. For a complex outline with tight interior curves, a laser-cut or heat-sealed edge on a woven patch follows the shape more precisely than a merrowed border can, and a molded PVC patch takes its outline straight from the mold.

Our customers will wash these. How do patches hold up in retail use?+

Thread is dyed through rather than printed, so embroidered and woven patches do not crack, peel, or wash out the way a print does, and a sealed edge stops fraying. The failure point in retail is almost always the attachment rather than the patch: iron-on adhesive gives up long before the patch does, especially on repeated hot washes. If the garment is meant to last, sew the patch on or specify sew-on backing and have your production do it.
